Here's my take on the classic EdgeScatter. Simple controls for inner/outer amount + blur, with simple grain built in courtesy of a furnace node (but you can and should replace with your own or the studio-vetted grain pkg where you work). Super fast results.
I find this imperative to getting images from 2 different sources (a greenscreen or CG and a BG for example) to gel together. It's in the same family as light wrap, addmix and that sort of thing, but a step down from going further into lens kernels and custom convolves. Simply pipe in your comp (or many times an 'over' node if you're edgescattering each layer individually) and then pipe in a control channel (alpha from your layer) and EdgeScatter will mix your edges together to taste.
Toggle on the crop function if you see any edge of frame problems creep in from the blurring.
v1 - initial release
v1.1 - added edge clamp crop + generic regrain setup
v1.2 - removed Nuke 8 version line for back compatibility and converted from group ('frankengizmo') to true gizmo.
Comments
It destroyed a comp for me though, It just won't open up again anymore. I had to delete the edgescatter gizmo from the nuke folder to get it to open again... very frustrating. All other comps still open fine with it. Any thoughts?
9.0.5 on OSX.
