Ingi Edge Extend uses repeated blurs to create a smooth edge extension.
It is simple and straight forward. It takes the last RGB pixels inside the white alpha and smears them outwards.
What distinguiches it from other edge extends is that it allows you to extend at will. Most edge extends start doing weird things after a couple dozen pixels. But this one will reliably keep on extending as much as needed. It can fill up an entire frame in one click since it uses the input resolution to adapt its 3 different sizes.
Its smooth look and ability to reach far makes it perfect for extending defocused edges. It is also very useful when extending a depth passe before using it in a defocus.
I recommend using two of them, with one having slightly different parameters (like a different number in erode for example) and averaging them. This will create a more stable, reliable and smoother edge extend.
The latest version 2.2 allows the gizmo to work with negative values.
