There are many useful gizmos already built for checking alpha mattes, but none I could find that had all of the options I wanted. This gizmo has separate inputs for your alpha and plate. Please set the Plate Size/output format first to ensure every feature works properly, particularly for the checkerboard and Custom_BG views.
The 10 views include: Black Constant, White Constant, Brighter, Darker, Checkerboard, Grey, Colour Constant, Colour Multipy, Colour Plus, and Custom BG (Background). You can invert the alpha, giving you 10 more ways of viewing the alpha. There is a crude but potentially useful way to detect holes in your alpha, using the Rough Splines feature, which detects edges around your alpha. In addition to an overall mix slider, you also have total control over the colours for the constant and splines. Lastly, there is an Emergency Options dropdown menu, which provides some jokes but has no real operation.

Special thanks to Ganz Ramalingam, Josh Robertson, Erik T. Jensen, and current students at the Lost Boys School of Visual Effects for helping to inspire and test this gizmo. Thanks also to Zoey Lee and David Koss for allowing me to use their roto work as students for visual examples.
