2D image projected on a 3D sphere

Use this tool if you have a simple 2D image instead of a full 360° image to project it on a 3D sphere without distortion.

Your image needs to be 2:1 aspect ratio to map onto the 3D sphere properly. Of course, the best way is to use a Spherical Transform with a 360° image :)

 

 

You can use this tool with this little script:
